As of only about 45 minutes ago, the Connecticut Supreme Court has ruled that the state’s ban on same-sex marriages is unconstitutional.
The court decision states:
The guarantee of equal protection under the law, and our obligation to uphold that command, forbids us from doing so. In accordance with these state constitutional requirements, same sex couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry.
Connecticut is the third US state to legalize same-sex marriages – following Massachusetts and California.
