According to a new BBC poll the majority of Scots ‘want an independence vote’ within the next year. While a clear majority support the idea of a vote, it appears that the majority do not support independence from the UK. Though, that is not exactly a clear assertion since, “the poll found the percentage of people saying they support independence varies widely depending on how the question is phrased.” Some seem to favor full independence, others increased autonomy and power in the Scottish Parliament, while some just want things to remain the same.
The Scottish government is planing a referendum for 2010. We will all have to wait and see if the near future brings us a Scottish Republic.
Damn interesting… I especially enjoyed the bit about how peoples’ opinions changed with variations on how the poll questions were phrased – nothing like neurosemantic linguistics to manipulate people.
BTW I heard something about you graduating – Is that so? Congratulations my friend!
